Do I Dare?

Or challenge myself to write a poem a day?

The pen has been less prolific of late. By pen, I mean me. It's time to face the blank page (a writer's worst fear or greatest joy) and begin again.

Do you have a favorite poet or poem? Has poetry shaped your life view in any way?

Talk to me. I want hear your story.

Check back each day for a new poem.

See you tomorrow.

Ah....Prufrock. One of my favorites. I always loved the line about the women coming and going and talking of Michaelangelo.

Every now and then I try to get more exotic, but the truth is that I come alive when I'm teaching Frost. I always want to step into the painting created by a Frost poem. "After Apple-Picking" is one of my favorites.
"I am overtired of the great harvest I myself desired." Brilliant simplicity.

Maria - I hope your April is filled with favorite poems, old and new

Deb - I stumbled upon Frost's grave quite by accident on a long ago trip to Vermont. The inscription on the casement read, "I had a lovers quarrel with the world." From that moment on, I read his poetry in a different light.
